The classical model of personal training dictates that you buy x number of sessions, to ration as you see fit. I have found that an overwhelming amount of the time this leads to sessions being spaced too far apart, and each session ends up being a refresher of things we went over the previous session. This leads to less new ground being broken and reduces the amount a client learns in a session.
With a 2x/week minimum, the client is able to retain more and reinforce good habits faster. It's easier to course correct, and ultimately leads to clients gaining proficiency faster. This saves the client both time and money.
This is not theoretical; this is based on working with clients under both conditions and comparing client data.
I have also found that only communicating with a client during a session isn't enough - there's only so much time during a session. I'd rather give clients access to curated resources and let the focus during sessions be on the physical component of training. In other words - I'd rather teach my clients how to fish, than give them a fish.
